I always get the seafood pancake in a Korean restaurant that doesn't just serve kbbq as an indicator of how good the place is and this place killed it! The pancake was flaky, yet fluffy, and the texture was absolutely delectable. The dough was light and overall it was simply delicious. Loaded with various seafood items, it could've been a meal in itself. I also got the cold noodles and that was also delicious. The sauce for the noodles was sweet and spicy and all the fixings (egg, cucumber, beef, and radish) added to the overall refreshing experience of a good bowl of cold noodles on a hot summer day. The noodles were al dente as well and chewy as they should be. I would definitely come back to try other items on the menu!

It's our goto spot for spicy tofu soup, now that we don't live in the city. I always do the kimchee soondoobu with beef spicy and it's great. My brother got the extra spicy and he couldn't really eat it and we're Korean haha. I mean he still ate it but he was sweating bullets. The galbi is also good but we only do that when we have a bigger group since it's pricey and it's just as good as la galbi. The people who work here are fast and accommodating, as it should be.

We visited a friend in Palo Alto and decided to dine at So GongDong Tofu's house. It has a nice review on Yelp and decided to try it. We arrived at 5 pm and the place had only a few patrons inside. The place looks clean and has several tables and chairs. We were seated right away and after checking their menu, decided to order their tofu soup and beef stone pot bibimbab. The tofu soup was very hot and you've to be careful. The tofu soup is delicious. The bowl came big and can be shared with another person The bibimbad also came in a big bowl and was sizzling hot. It has rice underneath with beef and vegetables on top. This meal is also delicious and can be shared with another person. The beef was tender and sliced thinly. The rice stays warm at the bottom. This bowl is very generous in its serving. By the time we were done, the place got busier with several patrons walking in. A go-to place if you want tofu soup in Palo Alto.

I come here time and time again with my cousin. I love their tofu soups and the figure 8 shaped rice cake in them. The banchan is a good combo of six dishes. I like that the rice is a blend of darker rices with beans. The seafood pajun here is made well: perfect crisp and not too much dough.

Soft Tofu Soup 4 cheese, oyster, fish eggs give thicker texture, crab has shells, mild was not spicy, medium flavorful BBQ Short Ribs 4 tender, slightly burnt / bitter Chicken Bibimbap 2 too much white rice, slightly sweet chicken, not flavorful

I have ordered from this place a few times, but finally got to try it in person! Ordered the cheese soup and it was absolutely delicious! The little side dishes were also very good! The short rib was good, but I think compared to the other dishes were not as good! The service was good, they brought out the food and the side dishes very fast. The restaurant itself is pretty big but very busy!

Solid korean tofu house. A bit pricey but I'd say its standard for bay area. I got the seafood+beef tofu soup and we got the ice noodle dish as well. All super flavorful. The ice dish was not THAT cold, more lukewarm warm. The side dishes were great and they are more than happy to give you more!

Pretty spacious restaurant and service was quick. Parking is a breeze too which is a plus. Food was delicious! Banchan was good and I loved that they gave purple rice instead of white rice along with the tofu soup. The tofu soup was flavorful and everything overall was great! Would definitely come back when I'm in the area and want soondubu. Restaurant is spacious but tables/seats are close to each other, so it can get quite loud during the meal.

So Gong Dong: a busy hub for great Korean soups. Love that they provide banchan (complimentary assortment of side dishes) although IMO they were more atypical choices. FOOD [5/5] ========= + Cheese Soft Tofu Soup w/Beef (5/5) So so so delicious. Cannot overstate how creamy and savory this soup is. The cheese is very well incorporated into the soup so that it just enhances the flavor with a more creamy and rich taste. I thought the portion size of beef was okay, and the tofu is very soft so it breaks apart in the soup easily. This pairs really well with the rice! AMBIANCE [4/5] ============= The restaurant is really busy and was a 20 minute wait even right at closing time. The seats are close together and the volume is pretty loud because of how packed the interior is. I would come back to So Gong Dong! The quality of food is great here, and the price is very reasonable once you factor in the banchan. :)
